But it's not easy...

Hey! It’s Brian here. Before we dive in, I wanted to announce the launch of my new book, The Lonely CEO on Amazon. You can pick up a copy below:

Do you find building a business daunting?

What if I told you it's simpler than you think?

In business, the path to profitability often appears convoluted.

However, at its core, the essence of making money lies in solving problems for customers.

When customers face challenges or unmet needs, they seek solutions.

And by identifying these pain points and offering effective remedies, you create value and attract paying customers.

Consider successful companies like Amazon or Apple.

Their dominance stems from their ability to address consumer needs with innovative products and services, positioning them as problem solvers in the marketplace.

Businesses that prioritize problem-solving foster trust and loyalty among customers.

When people perceive a company as capable of resolving their issues reliably, they are more inclined to engage repeatedly and advocate for the brand.

In essence, the journey to profitability is intricately linked to the art of problem-solving.

Whether through product innovation, service excellence, or tailored solutions, businesses that focus on addressing customer pain points invariably reap financial rewards.

Making money in business isn't a mysterious endeavor reserved for a select few.

By understanding that people pay for solutions to their problems, you can navigate the path to profitability with clarity and purpose.

Remember, success lies in solving problems effectively.

3 Tips

Focus: You might be thinking, “Well…duh.” Let me clarify: focus on what you can control. There’s no use thinking about things you can’t control.

Determine what lies within your “sphere of influence,” a term from Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and stay there. Focus your time, energy, thoughts, and actions within that sphere of influence and you instantly increase your productivity.

Make Yourself Obsolete: Plan for and work toward training others to do everything you do. At some point, you’re going to want or need to step away from your tasks, whether permanently or temporarily.

Be prepared by training several people to take over parts of what you do. Then, when those times come, you’re ready to step away with as few bumps in the road as possible.

Read Biographies: Specifically, find someone you admire, modern or from history, and read up on their lifestyle. Find out what made them successful.

The more of these you read or listen to, the more you’ll notice similarities between the people you admire.

You’ll be surprised at how motivating these biographies can be.

Real Artists Don’t Starve: Timeless Strategies for Thriving in The New Creative Age, by Jeff Goins - If your business is at all based around content creation or if you’re in an artistic niche, this is a must-read.

This book is a helpful antidote to the cultural idea of the starving artist. Instead of assuming that money taints the artistic process, Goins makes a convincing argument that money should be viewed as the resource that enables artistic expression and production.

“Knowledge is the source of wealth. Applied to tasks we already know, it becomes productivity. Applied to tasks that are new, it becomes innovation.”
