The Legacy That Matters
What if the greatest return isn’t in your bank account—but at your kitchen table?
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about growth, business, and success.
But the older I get, the more I realize—legacy isn’t about what we leave behind.
It’s about what we build into the people around us.
When my dad—a West Point grad and Army Ranger—taught me to shake hands, look people in the eye, and get to work, he didn’t do it for applause.
He did it because that’s what leaders do.
And now I see those same moments replaying with my daughter.
She’s confident. Creative. Full of life.
And I know how I show up at home is shaping how she’ll show up in the world.
In business, we measure ROI.
In life, we measure presence.
And if you ask me—being there, really being there, is the highest leverage move we can make.
Whatever you’re building, remember:
Success that costs you your family, your health, or your peace isn’t success.
Build a life you don’t need to escape from.
That’s the kind of legacy worth leaving.
3 Tips
1. Build with people, not just for them
Your team, your clients, your family—they don’t want a superhero. They want someone real. Show up human. It scales better than you think.
2. Protect your best hours
Whether it’s early morning or late at night, carve out space for the things that actually matter. That includes family. That includes you.
3. Start with one block
You don’t build a legacy in a weekend. You build it one decision, one word, one day at a time. Don’t underestimate small consistency.
